4 Podcasts That Will Inspire You To Be A Better Blogger

Good day fellow podcast friends!

Today I wanted to highlight some great podcasts I’ve been listening to the last several months that have inspired me to work towards becoming a better blogger. I started this blog back in October (happy three month blog anniversary to me! *self-five*) because before I started university, I was a really creative person.

I wrote, played and performed music, I dabbled in drawing and occasionally wrote the odd short story. However, the more of these stories my mom finds in my old room, the more I realize they were basically just Tomb Raider video game fan fiction, and that the characters were pretty 2 dimensional.

After finishing school and not constantly having my face in a scientific paper or thesis, I started to feel like I kind of lost part of myself through the process of getting those very expensive pieces of paper (AKA my degrees) and wanted to do something that would help fill that void.

I was also looking for something that could possibly lead to producing income to help pay for some of the things that have been stressing me out financially, like student loan debt, my upcoming wedding and saving for a home. After a lot of internal debate, I was finally inspired to start this blog, so of course my next step was to search for podcasts that would help get me started and to stay motivated.

So let’s get into this!

Do You Even Blog

Hosted by the one and only Pete McPherson, whose podcast and blog were started because he wanted to teach and help others to become successful bloggers that produce good content. He is a super honest guy that talks about his successes and failures, and turns those things into teaching moments for the rest of us out in the blogosphere.

Pete interviews successful bloggers like Michelle Schroeder-Gardner from  Making Sense of Cents, Nick Loper from Side Hustle Nation and so many other of the blogger greats, and together they give the audience real and actionable tips to work towards success.

I’m one of those listeners that really likes hour long podcast episodes and will for sure listen to every single minute, and Do You Even Blog does not disappoint. He does have a good mix of long and short episodes, updates frequently with bonus content and has in-depth interviews with the guests on his show.  If you’re too busy to listen to a full episode, he provides break down of the major takeaways at the end and writes them up on his blog.

Pete loves the blogging community, and is really supportive to people that reach out to him. He’s personally responded to every one of my questions and comments, and is just really passionate about helping people meet their goals. Go listen to Pete, get some great advice and tell him I sent you!

The Influencer Podcast

Okay, if there’s one thing that I’m not great at, it’s social media presence and engagement, but it’s something I’m working on. That’s where Julie Soloman and her expertise come in. Her podcast takes a deep dive into marketing, entrepreneurship, and social media, where she uses her skills as an influencer and publicist to help her listeners build a community with their audiences, and talks about how that can lead to success.

She has conversations with a wide variety of successful influencers, whose careers range anywhere from YouTube, blogging, marketing or owning their own businesses. They have detailed discussions on how you can keep up with the ever changing marketing trends, how monetize your blog, which social media platforms to use for your business, how to engage with your audience to build loyalty and grow your influence.

I like to listen to this show when I feel like I’m lacking motivation and need inspiration to work on my blog during the evenings after I’m off from my full-time job every day. Not only is Julie really likable, but she kind of forces my brain to think more like a marketer, than just being a creative person flying by the seat of my pants.

Her podcast seems to be directed more towards women, but I feel like anyone could listen to it and gain something positive from it. She genuinely wants to help people find success and I really find that this comes through in her podcast. So, if you’re like me, and need to learn more about getting your content noticed and finding affiliates, add Julie’s podcast to your feeds, and let me know what you think!

The ProBlogger Podcast

I had heard a lot of really good things about this podcast, and definitely wasn’t disappointed! The ProBlogger podcast is jam-packed with relevant and actionable advice that directly helps people to create better blogs. The host, Darren Rowse, combines teachable moments based on his own experience, and also features bloggers from a huge variety of niches at different levels progress and success.

Something that I really like about this podcast is that Darren will give listeners challenges they can achieve daily to produce better content, improve reader engagement and increase blog growth and make money. I always scroll back to the very beginning when I start a new podcast and was excited to see that his first 31 episodes are his “31 Days to Build a Better Blog” challenge.  He has TONS of content and advice freely available on his podcast, with over 200 episodes roughly 15-20 minutes long to listen to.

I’ve got a long ways to go before I catch up on the latest episodes, but I’ve started implementing the advice and challenges to my own blog, and I’m super excited to see where it goes! Head over to your favorite podcast app and try listening to a few episodes. I guarantee that you’ll be able to find something you could implement on your own blog.

The Goal Digger Podcast

I recently discovered this girl boss podcast, and it had me hooked immediately. Host Jenna Kutcher, a talented and savvy entrepreneur, treats each episode like a workshop that provides free content that will have the highest impact to improve your business. She provides tips that will increase your productivity, help you deal with that work-life balance, and will give you strategies to help you tackle your goals.

It’s not a podcast directly dedicated to blogging specifically, but offers advice and inspiration to women in many areas of business and life that can be applied to how you can manage and market your blog as a business.

Something else that really stood out for me in this podcast, is that her episodes can get very real. Some of the experiences discussed on the podcast are her own personal struggles, or it’s a conversation with another entrepreneur who is sharing their story of coming back from failure, or why it’s important to get out of your comfort zone.

I’ve really enjoyed what I’ve heard from Jenna so far, and I think she’ll help keep me on track to crushing my goals for 2018. I think she can help you too, so go listen right now and let me know what you think!

So, are you ready to feel inspired and start writing that blog you’ve been thinking about? Well get to it! Let me know your thoughts or feel free to leave a comment below. Want to get a hold of me? Check out my Contact Me page and come like my new page on Facebook!

  1. Yay! Thank you so much for the mention, and I'll take every chance I can to be mentioned alongside those other podcasts (I hadn't heard of The Goal Digger either. It sounds right up my alley, so I'mma grab it now):) 🙂

  2. Great list – I've been looking for some more blog/business related podcasts to add to my listening rotation; thanks! Also, given these choices, I bet you'd enjoy In The Storyhouse.
